Crocodile

Crocodiles can swim at 25mph just with the help of their powerful tail. When the crocodile sits on the river banks, it does not intend aggression but it is an act of cooling off as they sweat through their mouths.

Each crocodile jaw has 24 teeth that are meant to grasp and crush and not to chew. They swallow stones that grind food inside their stomach and also act as ballast.

90% of crocodile offspring are eaten in their first year after birth by large fish, herons, monitor lizards and adult crocodiles.

Crocodile skin is considered one of the finest and treasured for its durability and softness.

‘Crying crocodile’s tears’ that means fake sadness –comes from a myth that the reptile wipes tears when eating a human being. Interestingly however, they do wipe their tears when feeding but only because their eyes bubble and froth when eating.

This reptile can live up to 80 years.
