Hyenas

The reputation of the hyena as a coward is unfounded. Hyenas are aggressive competitors in the bush, not only scavenging kills of other animals as it is often believed but they also kill and eat cubs, leopards and other predators. About 95%of their kill comes from own hunts, which takes up to 80 hyenas.

Hyenas are night creatures. They can live in different habitats including savannah, mountain terrain, bushes and forests. Although hyenas are dog like, they bear no formal relationship; in fact, they closely relate to the cats family.

The female is the dominant one, larger in size and more aggressive than the male hyena. It has a “penis” which is used for copulation, urination and giving birth and it has two nipples.

Hyenas are cannibals and can attack and even kill each other including their own.
